Finally, a fitness tracker done right. Withings has stepped up to the plate with something truly unique: a fitness tracker that is, literally, a real swiss watch.
The Activité clearly draws inspiration from the Bauhaus styled timepieces from german watchmaker NOMOS, and the results speak for themselves. This is a truly beautiful timepiece, regardless of it's sophisticated inner workings. It's made of 316L stainless steel, sits on a calf leather strap, and is covered with a hardened sapphire crystal--all bits that you'd expect to see on a high quality swiss watch.
Withings claims that the Activité will track your steps, swimming (huh?), sleep, and automatically switches between all of these modes without intervention. It also includes a vibrating alarm, and a tap-sensitive crystal that allows you to switch modes or check your daily activity progress on the dial.
The swiss "connected" movement runs on a standard watch battery that will last a full year without replacement. Yep. No charging.
The Activité will be available this fall, for $390. Not cheap in the world of fitness trackers, but a bargain for a beautifully designed swiss watch that just happens to track your movement too.
