I love small low wattage amplifiers. I use a Topping TP20 MKII amplifier with my Polk Monitor 7s and it sounds unbelievable for how small of a package it is. Back when the original Airport Express was released, Griffin created the original Twenty — a small amplifier that you dock your Airport Express into and it provides 20 watts of amplification to use your favorite set of passive speakers.
Those days are long gone, though, and the design of the Airport Express has changed significantly. So Griffin has updated the Twenty to a new all-digital design. It has an optical audio input, bluetooth streaming support, left and right speaker outputs, and even a dedicated subwoofer output. All housed in a gorgeous stand-out modern design, with the same 20 watt amplifier that we loved in the original Twenty.
If you're looking for a way to make use of those old passive speakers that have been gathering dust, this is a great way to go.
