Digg co-founder and Google Ventures partner Kevin Rose has launched a new iPhone app that helps feed a newfound passion of his — watches. The app is called Watchville, and while it's pretty simple, it's awfully well done.
Watchville has two sections. The first is a news feed, which pulls the latest watch-related news from the world's top watch sites like Hodinkee, aBlogToWatch, and many more. You can turn the site feeds on or off to fine-tune your preferences.
The second section is called Time, and it's a hyper accurate clock that is synced to several time servers at once, and then averaged for accuracy. It will show you your local time, but also UTC, the date, the next leap year, and most importantly the moonphase. For watches with moonphase complications, this is an incredibly helpful feature that makes setting your watch so much simpler.
This is not a feature-packed app, but it's not meant to be. It does what it set out to do, and it does it elegantly. I always enjoy Kevin Rose's projects and this is another winner.
